About the Role
We are seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to support our Engineering and Product teams. This role involves close collaboration with leaders and managers on critical people decisions related to talent development, manager effectiveness, organizational design, performance improvement, and problem-solving. You will also be instrumental in building new development programs and talent practices from the ground up in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with Engineering and Product leaders on talent, organizational, and people decisions.
- Coach managers on performance, feedback, team effectiveness, development, and employee situations.
- Identify and create practical development opportunities for high-performing employees.
- Build development programs from inception through launch, adoption, and iteration.
- Collaborate with leaders on organizational design, role clarity, succession planning, and talent movement.
- Manage talent and performance processes for EPD, focusing on judgment and outcomes.
- Analyze team patterns to provide clear recommendations to leaders and the People team.
- Collaborate with Recruiting, People Operations, and the broader People team to resolve issues.
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, advising senior leaders and building new initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of HRBP experience, with a focus on partnering with Engineering, Product, or similar technical organizations.
- Proven experience in a fast-growing startup environment, understanding its pace and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to build and launch development, talent, or manager programs from scratch (0 to 1).
- Excellent judgment to navigate complex people situations and provide clear recommendations.
- Ability to coach managers, including experienced leaders, and challenge their thinking.
- Strong understanding of performance differentiation, talent development, and addressing performance issues.
- An operator mindset, comfortable with both strategy creation and execution.
- Low-ego, direct communication style, focused on achieving the best outcomes.
- Ability to work in our San Francisco office five days a week.
