About the Role

Responsible for the maintenance and performance of complex irrigation systems, ensuring proper hydration for all plant materials through precise water delivery. This role works independently and with contractors to maintain peak system performance, support landscape health, and uphold aesthetic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Director of Properties and company team members to support operations and property needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of the property irrigation system (wells, reservoir, pumps, computer controls, weather station, infrastructure, distribution).
  • Participate in the daily activities of the grounds support team to achieve the highest level of service, detail, and performance standards.
  • Oversee the irrigation system and conduct frequent reviews of the physical surroundings to ensure quality issues are identified, repaired, mapped, or properly reported.
  • Track and Report water use numbers monthly both to the LCRA and internally.
  • Make recommendations in establishing short and long-range goals and meet goal requirements.
  • Evaluate water quality issues and make recommendations to successfully resolve.
  • Assess disparate information and distill it into a concise report.
  • Carry out special projects as required and directed by the Horticulture Manager and/or Director of Properties.
  • Assist in the application of chemicals to mitigate plant damage by disease, insects, weeds, or drought.
  • Manage Water Filtration.

Requirements

  • College Degree in Horticulture or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years in residential, golf course or related or any combination of education, licensing, specialized training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of landscape care and maintenance; turf plants, ornamentals, trees, fertilization, and disease control.
  • Knowledge of irrigation, pump stations, water delivery systems, and computerized irrigation control programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude.
  • Excellent knowledge of general office procedures; as well as intermediate knowledge smart phone and computer skills.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects with available resources.
  • Keen attention to detail, honesty, adaptability, dependability, and a willingness to do hands-on work.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of strict confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Private estate/hotel/ hospitality/golf course experience.
  • Irrigators license.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Extensive standing, walking, bending and heavy lifting.
  • Occasional desktop computer work.
  • Outdoor setting, rough terrain.
  • Occasional office/cubical setting work.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Some travel required, often on short notice.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all relevant OSHA safety regulations for all facility personnel, as well as all company policies.
  • Act as a role model in the adherence to policies.
  • Complete a background check and drug test before employment.
