About the Role

Provides legal and administrative support for the attorney grievance and discipline process, involving frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Transmits grievance files for classification dismissals appealed to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals (BODA).
  • Enters BODA appeal results into the case management tracking database.
  • Maintains the State Bar of Texas’ file retention schedule for department files sent to external storage.
  • Maintains the database of closed final judgment files sent to off-site storage, including destruction schedules and retrieval processes.
  • Composes responses to routine general correspondence and requests for disciplinary judgments.
  • Serves as backup to the Intake Legal Secretary team, performing data entry for incoming grievances and case status updates.
  • Provides receptionist relief as needed.
  • Performs other responsibilities and conducts special projects as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college-level courses preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of related office experience preferred.
  • Experienced in legal secretarial work helpful.
  • Requires good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner.
  • Must be well organized, a self-starter, and detail oriented.
  • Must be proficient in typing.
  • Must have technological competency, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access; Adobe, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience using case management software preferred.
  • Ability to speak and translate Spanish helpful.
