About the Role

This role is part of a global Business Development (BD) product team supporting the Corporate Transactions and Advisory Group, with primary responsibility for M&A in the Americas. It is a hands-on and proactive role where you will collaborate with other BD team members and act as a key point of contact for relevant product stakeholders to support the execution of wider BD strategy. This business-critical role offers an opportunity for a BD professional to make a significant impact in a professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support key stakeholders on client and market business development initiatives and the implementation of BD strategy.
  • Collaborate with fee-earning professionals to support the identification, pursuit, and winning of revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Connect partners and lawyers to the full spectrum of BD services and expertise available globally.
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of BD development and marketing plans, ensuring alignment with firmwide strategy.
  • Track progress against plans and refine approaches to achieve overarching goals, focusing on ROI.
  • Commission research on regional product and market trends, clients, prospects, and competitors.
  • Oversee and manage the quality of output to meet partner expectations.
  • Act as the primary contact for information about the product offering in region, and related BD and marketing activities.
  • Support the relevant product group in implementing its BD plan.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop/shape BD product offerings and initiatives.
  • Facilitate information flow to drive collaboration and cross-selling of client relationships and products.
  • Position and promote BD offerings and initiatives within the product group and the firm.
  • Proactively identify market trends and opportunities for the product group.
  • Support cross-product panel RFPs with significant regional emphasis.
  • Provide tailored input into significant product pitches and maintain capability statements.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to position and raise the profile of the product group and its lawyers.
  • Lead the organization of relevant BD client events, seminars, conferences, sponsorships, and PR.
  • Oversee multiple marketing communications projects, including directory/awards submissions.
  • Support the creation and distribution of thought leadership material.
  • Oversee and assist with client targeting exercises and maintain oversight of priority clients and prospects.
  • Embed a strong culture around client listening.
  • Ensure regional marketing materials are up-to-date and fit for purpose.
  • Apply product knowledge to support firmwide client and sector programs.
  • Conduct competitor, client, and marketplace analysis to identify new opportunities.
  • Execute strategically important BD function projects.
  • Support the implementation of the BD Operating Model by aligning activity with teams and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in professional services business development, preferably in a law firm.
  • Strong interest in and understanding of the relevant products.
  • Sound commercial awareness of legal market development, particularly in relation to relevant products.
  • Ability to develop advisory relationships with partners.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with lawyers of all seniority levels.
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
