About the Role
This recruitment is for a Medical Assistant/PSR position in our newest clinic in San Francisco. The position will work side by side with primary care physicians to provide outstanding clinical support as a Medical Assistant and could also work performing a variety of receptionist and front desk patient-related duties. This position is ideal for a professional who wants to be part of a very dynamic and supportive working environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide information about clinical services, insurance and payment policies.
- Process new patient paperwork and collect copays.
- Follow up with patients for payment or insurance information.
- Attend to physician and practitioner needs to support patient care.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, monitoring schedule for capacity.
- Attend to billing corrections in a timely fashion.
- Distribute incoming paper lab results and scan records into patient charts.
- Answer phones professionally and warmly.
- Help maintain office supplies, equipment, and general office systems.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR), Microsoft Outlook, and MS Office Suite.
- Proactively manage clinician schedules to fill openings.
- Keep patient demographics and insurance information accurate in the EHR.
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive customer service.
- Remind patients of appointments in advance.
- Return patient calls within 24 hours.
- Utilize EHR to communicate about appointment details.
- Keep administrative team members informed of patient or physician needs and schedule changes.
- Inform Supervisor of customer compliments, complaints, or critical issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of all physicians and services.
- Consistently extend a professional, warm environment.
- Attend staff and office meetings as required.
- Uphold Standards of Behavior regardless of protected characteristics.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations and UBCP standards of patient confidentiality.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
- Graduate of an approved MA program, which includes injectable training.
- Complete CCMA exam within 90 days of hire.
