About the Role
The Claims Director, Property & Casualty is a senior leader responsible for executing the US Claims strategy by developing, managing, and motivating Team Managers. This role requires a blend of technical claims handling, people management, and leadership skills, overseeing general liability teams.
Responsibilities
- Leads, motivates, and develops Team AVPs overseeing customer service and results.
- Ensures delivery of Key Performance Indicators and adherence to Hiscox USA Best Practices.
- Leads and executes strategic business initiatives for cost-effective and innovative claims results, litigation strategy, and customer experience.
- Supports claim employee engagement goals, team performance, and development.
- Drives litigation management behaviors and identifies trends and training opportunities.
- Oversees and drives Best Practice compliance with the reserving process for the CGL LOB, including exposure, timeliness, and adequacy of incurred reserves.
- Tracks claims trends and reserving for timeliness and sufficiency.
- Effectively manages performance of AVPs.
- Plays an active role in recruitment and onboarding.
- Leads and/or participates in Claims Projects as needed.
- Works directly with key stakeholders, such as UW and Claim Operations, to deliver on business needs and objectives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of claims management experience or equivalent, including significant people management and leadership experience.
- 7+ years insurance carrier claims handling experience, preferably with commercial general liability lines.
- Ability to translate strategic thinking into tangible plans and delivery to meet business objectives.
- Strong operational skills, including business process and systems, with a passion for the customer.
- Strong track record of leveraging technology to innovate and improve business performance and efficiency.
- Industry acumen and proven strong judgment for claims and business decisions.
- High learning agility and intellectual curiosity with an entrepreneurial spirit for a complex and global environment.
- Proven track record of collaborating and managing stakeholders across all levels, including senior management.
