About the Role

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is seeking a Patient Care Associate to join their Clinical Services team. This role is crucial for providing patient intake, medical history collection, and comprehensive health education, supporting the organization's mission to advance equity and improve health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support front desk with check ins, scheduling, patient inquiries, etc.
  • Review patient health history for completeness and record findings.
  • Alert APC regarding critical patient information.
  • Document competently in the electronic medical record using PPGNY templates and forms.
  • Assist in promoting optimum center operations, excellent patient service, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time, and client complaint resolution.
  • Assess patient flow to minimize wait times.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new clinic staff.
  • Ensure charge capture and financial reporting by accurately documenting in EHR and completing CVR data.
  • Ensure access to interpreter services for patients with communication barriers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide health education and care related to sexual and reproductive healthcare.
  • Provide accurate, patient-centered, non-judgmental education and obtain informed consent.
  • Perform laboratory tests as ordered, complete requisitions, and package labs for transport.
  • Run Daily Controls.
  • Perform clinic opening and closing duties, cleaning, and restocking supplies.
  • Report facility and equipment issues.
  • Follow all lab and quality assurance protocols, using appropriate PPE and infection control precautions.
  • Assist in abortion services as needed, including counseling, POC room, float, and assisting in the surgical room.
  • Attend monthly didactics and incorporate information into daily care.
  • Maintain clinical skills and competencies.
  • Participate in annual competency checks and training for new services, tests, and skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racial justice
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Superior customer service and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule including non-consecutive workdays, evenings or Saturdays
  • Interest in expanding analysis and knowledge about the role of racial inequity in society and commitment to building/deepening commitment to racial equity in work
  • Reliable transportation to travel to other locations
  • Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis

Salary/Compensations

  • $22.82 - $22.82 an hour
