About the Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will lead the electrical discipline for multiple data center projects, from proposal through construction. You will be responsible for design leadership, serving as the engineer of record, and mentoring junior staff. This role also involves supporting business development efforts and collaborating with project teams, managers, and clients on power distribution, lighting, telecom, and fire alarm systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical discipline of multiple concurrent data center projects through pursuit, proposal, design, and construction phases.
- Lead design efforts and serve as the engineer of record.
- Teach other electrical staff specifics of data center electrical design.
- Support proposal and business development efforts.
- Work with project teams, senior and junior engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Design power distribution, lighting, telecom, and fire alarm systems.
- Inter-discipline knowledge of data center facility systems, with primary expertise in electrical design for data centers.
- Lead design teams to develop construction-ready drawing packages with inter-discipline coordination.
- Design for available capacity, redundancy, reliability, efficiency, and safety, as well as constructability and cost.
- Travel to project sites for engineering site surveys, data collection for system studies, system audits and collaboration with clients’ team members.
- Develop strong industry relationships with other design professionals.
- Perform various system studies (arc flash, load, short circuit, coordination).
- Develop solutions to complex projects.
Requirements
- Consulting engineering design experience producing IFC drawings for data centers.
- BS in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in engineering.
- State-issued professional engineering license preferred.
- Understanding of telecom and fire alarm design including prescriptive, performance-based design as well as full detailed design.
