About the Role

Alto is seeking a versatile and motivated Advisor well-versed in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and real property concepts to support the activities of Alto’s Real Property team. The role includes active contributions to the development of the team’s strategies, processes and partnerships. The Advisor will be responsible for the stewardship, governance, integration, and quality management of geospatial and property-related data. This role supports activities including spatial analysis, geospatial reporting, data quality assessments, decision-support initiatives, and the development of digital solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with Alto’s Real Property team and the Director, Real Property Business Solutions to understand key business processes and requirements to be able to translate into actionable geospatial and technical deliverables.
  • Collaborate with and provide oversight to the Private Developer Partner for the development and implementation of the project’s GIS platform and databases, as well as the compatible integration of georeferenced data with other information technology tools and partner systems.
  • Work in close coordination with the Alto GIS team to inform development of systems and standards to support efficacy and efficiency of GIS technology in supporting the real property function.
  • Coordinating information-sharing and controls with partner agencies related to land matters, monitoring mechanisms for land acquisition activities and progress.
  • Preparing progress reports, technical documentation, and presentations for project stakeholders, including internal, external and regulatory authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, surveying, information technology, real estate, urban planning, civil engineering, geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using and/or maintaining GIS platforms, data models and databases, preparing reports and conducting spatial analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and/or at executive level.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work autonomously to meet deliverable deadlines, in accordance with project goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS (Pro 3.x, Enterprise 11.x) and/or other GIS platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting / automation software is an asset (Python, Safe Software FME Form and Flow).
  • Experience integrating GIS solutions with enterprise applications through REST APIs and working with stakeholder engagement, land management, or CRM platforms (e.g., Borealis) is an asset.
  • Proven capacity in the drafting and presentation of strategic and administrative reports as well as comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Being fluent in both Canadian official languages is an asset.
