About the Role
In our Tool Room, we craft the custom tools and dies that power our entire production floor. If you have machining experience, love working with your hands, and take pride in making things the right way, this is where you can take your skills to the next level. We provide training and mentorship for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Sharpen and rework die sections, punches, and cut-off tools with precision
- Fabricate or repair custom tooling and fixtures for our springmaking operations
- Use a wide range of machines: mills, grinders, lathes, band saws, CNC equipment
- Interpret blueprints and part drawings for complex tooling components
- Measure with precision using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and comparators
- Work with tool steels like O-1, A-2, and D-2 — and apply proper heat treatment
- Torch work, welding, and hands-on problem-solving when things don’t go as planned
- Collaborate with engineers, production leads, and fellow tradespeople
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, machining, or tool room environment
- Confidence with machine tools — whether manual or CNC
- Comfortable using precision measuring instruments and basic shop math
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Experience with or interest in tool steels and heat treatment processes
- You love working with your hands, and you care about doing quality work
- Team-first attitude — but able to work independently with minimal supervision
