About the Role

As the first internal accounting hire, you will lead the accounting function at Office Hours, taking ownership of systems, processes, and controls to establish the function in-house. You will have full autonomy in defining how accounting operations, reporting, and technology are managed.

Responsibilities

  • Own the daily, monthly, and annual financial close processes, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Design, implement, and scale financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect company assets.
  • Prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for management review.
  • Manage local, state, and federal tax filings, regulatory compliance, and support annual external audits or reviews.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement modern financial tech stacks and automation tools (e.g., ERPs, expense management, billing software).
  • Partner with operations and department heads to support initiatives and data needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years in a high-growth startup or fast-paced tech environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) active license strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other modern startup ERP systems, along with Stripe, Ramp, and strong Excel skills.
  • Highly adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to roll up sleeves.
  • Experience in venture-backed or PE-backed companies is a plus.
  • Experience in marketplace-based companies is a plus.
