About the Role

TO Live's Facilities Department has an opportunity for a part-time Heavy-Duty Cleaner. This is an hourly, unionized position working at Meridian Hall, involving general cleaning and maintenance tasks, snow removal, gardening, and event setup/dismantling.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs including auditorium floors, lobby floors, restroom floors, booth floors, etc.
  • Maintain carpets by vacuuming, removing debris, and shampooing as necessary.
  • Strip and refinish hard floors using a mopping system or equipment.
  • Clean seats when necessary.
  • Perform snow removal, gardening, and exterior grounds cleaning.
  • Assist in setting up rooms for theatre users.
  • Clean theatre and theatre property including washrooms, green rooms, recreational areas, drinking fountains, office areas, storerooms, and hallways.
  • Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • Replenish washroom supplies.
  • Remove trash from theatre and theatre property and dispose of it in commercial garbage dumpsters or compactors.
  • Insert new plastic garbage bags in trash cans.
  • Remove waste/recycling from drop points to bins or compactors.
  • Clean and organize cleaning closets.
  • Keep cleaning equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Perform other facility cleaning duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Practical experience in housekeeping and maintenance duties.
  • Experience operating heavy-duty cleaning machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Observe safety or security issues and report to management.
  • Observe TO Live’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Wear PPE where required and necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
