About the Role

The Compounder position is responsible for accurately and efficiently creating product mixes used in the creation of finished goods for Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetic products, following approved recipes and processes. This role involves inspecting and processing raw materials, adhering to production batch processes, and meeting all product specifications and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Accurately replicate product formulas with precision.
• Support new or returning staff with onboarding and demonstrations, ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are followed.
• Maintain confidentiality of formulas and methods as per the Lush manufacturing employee confidentiality agreement.
• Demonstrate leadership in safe work habits, quality assurance, and process improvements.
• Coordinate production flow with team leaders and production assistants for efficient mix timing.
• Perform basic AX functions.
• Support room management initiatives to increase output efficiency.
• Ensure all departmental output meets and exceeds organizational standards and expectations.
• Partner with management and inventory to reduce scrap and production variance.
• Collaborate with the team to implement new product formulas and reformulations.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, sanitation practices, and lockout procedures.
• Participate in production assistant responsibilities as needed.
• Perform general cleaning duties, including machinery.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Adapt to production demands with fluidity and flexibility, moving to other rooms as required.
• Provide support, education, and guidance to staff assisting with compounding.
• Be engaged and educated in the Lush Cosmetics Brand, current launches, and campaigns.
• Communicate about products, raw materials, and processes to media and visitors.
• Utilize Lean processes and tools for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Support the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies and monitor required documentation.
• Proactively shift expertise to support all site roles, including covering absenteeism and production increases.

Requirements

• Proficient with mathematics, including counting, addition, subtraction, and unit conversions.

• Aptitude for accurately checking, weighing, and measuring ingredients.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Demonstrate safe working practices while performing physical work for 8-hour shifts, including standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work within Distribution, Digital, and Manufacturing businesses as required.
• Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual, and dependable.
• Commitment to abide by and oversee health & safety regulations.
• Commitment to abide by and oversee quality and good manufacturing practices.
• Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English for communication with peers and leadership.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (AX).
• Previous experience working in kitchens, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals is preferred.
• Proven leadership skills in a variety of work environments and situations is preferred.
• Strong recognition of process improvement and efficiency implementation is preferred.
• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
• Able to navigate email, MS Office Suite, and Google programs (Sheets, Chat, Meet).

Salary/Compensations

• $25.25/hour CAD
