About the Role
Harriman has an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to join our firm as a licensed Electrical Designer. Our electrical team works closely with other internal architectural and engineering studios to develop high-level efficient and coordinated designs, and also works directly with prime engineering clients on a diverse group of project types.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer to learn and become proficient in all aspects of electrical design.
- Learn tasks and begin to perform work requiring independent judgment, including calculations, equipment selection, application of code requirements, and applying design methods to proposed project plans.
- Take on tasks with less specific instruction and perform specific project tasks or complete small projects independently.
- Complete small projects or portions of larger projects with minimal instruction, with review by a licensed engineer.
- Work cooperatively with the Project Manager, Project Assistant, and licensed engineer to ensure the successful completion of all phases of the project.
- Investigate and/or visit existing structures to determine applicable conditions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Familiar with the principles of engineering, knowledge of advanced math, physics, and electrical science applicable to the field.
- Familiar with the basic structure of an engineering project and its elements.
- Proficient with the tools required to achieve project completion (ie software, reference documents, calculations, and contacts).
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A collaborative spirit and desire to work closely with teams of designers.
- Positive work attitude and sense of humor.
- Love of design, and desire to contribute to the built environment in a real way.

- Be prompt to appointments and meetings out of the office as well as in-house.
- Inform studio leader of PTO, or unexpected time away from the office and record in studio PTO Calendar.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and activities such as project team and committee meetings, all-office meetings (such as the Monthly Harriman Huddle), and studio-specific meetings.
- Ability to accept and learn from criticism.
