About the Role
Join Clay Consulting in Austin, TX, as a Medical Assistant to support veterans by merging hands-on care with administrative precision. This purpose-driven role is crucial for the efficient operation of the clinic, supporting healthcare providers and claimants through various tasks related to VA Claim Exams.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to obtain comprehensive medical histories.
- Prepare clinical charts and conduct Medical Opinion (IMO) research prior to appointments.
- Update and maintain medical records and billing reports, adhering to privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms and medical instruments.
- Escort and guide claimants to examination rooms, assisting with their needs.
- Send all ordered diagnostics to appropriate facilities.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
- Collaborate with the Supervisor to ensure smooth clinic operations and timely patient care.
- Perform blood drawings to obtain blood specimens for diagnostic purposes.
- Conduct Electrocardiograms (EKG), Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), and Ankle Brachial Index (ABI).
- Assist with prescreening visitors and ensuring proper check-in/check-out procedures using the Patient Scheduling system.
- Comply with Infection Control policies and guidelines, maintaining general housekeeping protocols.
- Operate office equipment, including fax machines, printers, scanners, copiers, and answer phones.
- Assist in inventory management and supply ordering.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in medical procedures, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and PFTs.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to comprehend and follow healthcare provider instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Adherence to privacy regulations and ethical standards.
- Minimum typing speed 45 to 60 WPM.
- Strong familiarity with Office 365.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy is mandatory.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment.
- Visual acuity to read medical records and monitor patient vitals.
