About the Role
The Vice President of Operations reports to the SVP, Operations and will have responsibility for the strategic direction and management of the operations team, consisting of the company’s distribution centers, as well as its transportation function. This position requires strategic agility, a high level of emotional intelligence, and a strong knowledge of P&L implications to drive operational excellence and improve customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess, refine and execute the operational and distribution network strategy to support current and future commercial strategy.
- Create and lead a culture of continuous operational improvement, process optimization, and cost reduction.
- Implement and fine-tune KPIs to measure distribution and transportation network performance and lead a world-class team.
- Develop and manage a customer experience strategy for the operations team, balancing customer needs with working capital requirements.
- Continually raise expectations and performance standards, making necessary personnel decisions.
- Foster greater coordination between operations and other functions (marketing, product management, sales, finance) to improve fulfillment, forecasting, profitability, and customer experience.
- Lead capital investment planning for the operations team using analytical modeling for facility, equipment, and expansion recommendations.
- Develop a culture that prioritizes safe operations and timely safety incident reporting.
- Inspire and energize the operations and transportation organization to develop a high-performing team.
Requirements
- Proven track record leading operations in a fast-growing distribution business.
- Experience in complex, dynamic organizations where growth and customer experience depend on operational efficiencies.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with Multi-SKU, pick/pack distribution and fulfillment centers.
- Experience with footprint optimization, operational excellence, and process improvement.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with international/domestic transportation and logistics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Savvy business leadership skills with a proven track record of success in leading operations organizations.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- A results-oriented, highly collaborative executive leader with a demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding business performance objectives.
- Deep experience creating a cost-effective operating entity aligned with company core competencies.
- Expertise leveraging ecommerce and digital marketplace platforms to drive commercial and operational strategy for enterprise growth.
- Strong strategic leadership skills with the ability to establish a vision for the operations function.
