About the Role

We're looking for a Director, Actuarial – Claims Data & Analytics to join our innovative Claims team. This highly visible role is central to the strategy within the Claims organization, providing consulting on trends and actions to stakeholders across various business units and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Continually explore the Claims environment to identify relevant trends and actions for the organization.
  • Educate and build awareness of key trends with internal stakeholders within the Claims leadership team and external teams within IFC.
  • Conduct primary and secondary investigations on trends with senior leadership in claims operations.
  • Manage team resources by organizing, planning, and monitoring optimal capacity use.
  • Assess corporate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, promoting actionable proposals.
  • Identify new organizational capabilities necessary for long-term competitive advantage and growth.
  • Act as a councillor to decision makers by presenting a rational point of view supported by quantitative assessment and offering recommendations.
  • Manage performance and talent of the team and direct reports, including development, training, and coaching.
  • Be the centralized voice of claims data, reporting, and tools used by claims operations.
  • Develop tools and models to help claims operations be more efficient and make better-informed decisions.
  • Proactively identify trends and propose solutions to maintain control on indemnity.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain in the deployment and tracking of our Supply Chain strategy.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
  • FCIA or FCAS designation is an asset
  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience, including 4 at a Manager level
  • Professional experience in P&C insurance
  • Ability to work under pressure at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make strategic decisions independently and collaboratively
  • Leading by vision and values
  • Outstanding skills in negotiating, driving engagement, and developing strategic working relationships
  • Ability to facilitate change through risk-taking
  • Strong ability and political sense to influence various levels of management
  • Understanding of Claims is an asset
  • Previous experience working outside of actuarial teams is an asset
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Salary/Compensations

  • 174,500 - 213,300
  • Annual bonus target of 20% with potential payout of up to double the target
