About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will own significant portions of a project, driving them to completion. You will take semi-defined problems, ask clarifying questions, develop plans, and ship solutions. This role requires the judgment to prioritize tasks and the ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, marketing, sales, and finance, explaining technical work in accessible terms. The position is primarily backend focused, with occasional involvement in cloud infrastructure, but also requires comfort with modern frontend codebases to ensure visually appealing and smooth user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy scalable backend services and APIs for global brands, taking high ownership of workstreams and their dependencies.
- Take incomplete or ambiguous specs, resolve open questions, and translate them into clear requirements, tasks, and stories with time-to-complete estimates.
- Participate in technical design of systems, schemas, and pipelines, offering guidance on architecture and infrastructure decisions.
- Integrate third-party APIs and systems, and design contracts for frontend teams and other services.
- Perform code reviews to improve code quality and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
- Surface technical blockers, risks, and client-facing issues early for team course-correction.
- Advocate for best practices in testing, security, performance, and CI/CD.
- Work directly with working-level client stakeholders via email, calls, and in-person meetings.
- Develop demo and presentation content.
- Apply AI and agentic capabilities to client work and contribute to the adoption of these technologies through reusable templates, prototyping, and guidance.
- Share learnings internally through Slack, brown bags, and DEPT U, and externally through articles or talks.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and maintaining production-level backend systems used by real people.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs and third-party systems.
- Solid working knowledge of database platforms, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Familiarity with modern frontend development (preferably Angular) to read code, review PRs, and debug across the stack.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (Google Cloud preferred, AWS or Azure also welcome).
- Daily, real-world use of GenAI productivity tools (Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Codex) in development workflow.
- Working understanding of core LLM concepts and their appropriate application.
- Fluency with version control (git), Agile processes, and CI/CD tooling.
- Ability to research independently and know when to ask for help.
- Track record of "getting sh*t done" in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience mentoring engineers earlier in their careers (bonus).
- Exposure to agent development frameworks (bonus).
- Contributions to open source, technical writing, or conference speaking (bonus).
