About the Role

EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants is seeking a Vice President- Claims to join their growing team. This role is crucial for developing strategies, solving problems, and providing expert advice to manage and resolve insurance claims effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Developing long-range objectives and specifying strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Providing guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
  • Communicating with supervisors, peers, or subordinates.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Obtaining information from individuals.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
  • Representing the organization to clients, the public, government, and other external sources.
  • Communicating technical information, conducting presentations, compiling information through interviews, and conferring with legal advisors.
  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
  • Investigating insurance claims, verifying investigative information, and noting discrepancies in financial records.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Managing Claims Advocates, Claims Consultants, and other Administrative Personnel.
  • Investigating, evaluating, and settling claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt disposal of cases and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio.
  • Supervising claims adjusters to ensure that adjusters have followed proper methods.
  • Adjusting reserves or providing reserve recommendations to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with corporate policies.
  • Resolving complex, severe exposure claims, using high service-oriented file handling.
  • Paying and processing claims within designated authority level.
  • Conferring with Counsel on claims requiring litigation.
  • Contacting or interviewing claimants, doctors, medical specialists, or employers to get additional information.
  • Maintaining claim files such as records of settled claims and an inventory of claims requiring detailed analysis.
  • Preparing reports to be submitted to the company’s data processing department.
  • Conducting detailed bill reviews to implement sound litigation management and expense control.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of brokerage claims experience, including knowledge of P&C coverages, policy forms, and brokerage claim customer service activities.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to navigate the internet.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Valid P&C Property Casualty Broker-Agent License.
  • Juris Doctor of Law Degree, required.
