About the Role

The COTALAND Safety Department is seeking a motivated Safety Specialist to promote a safe environment for guests, employees, and contractors/vendors across COTALAND and the COTA property. This role supports COTA's safety management system through inspections, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and fostering a safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Complete accident investigations to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct and/or assist with routine inspections throughout the COTALAND property to ensure compliance with OSHA/ASTM/ANSI/NFPA regulations.
  • Ensure AEDs and first aid stations are ready for operation and properly stocked.
  • Assist departments with risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver safety trainings as needed for various positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work as a team across multiple departments.
  • Ability to sit and complete desk work for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate in a positive manner with COTALAND guests, employees, and contractors/vendors.
  • Ability to appropriately manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business, including opening, midday, evening shifts, and possible weekend shifts.
  • Strong analytical aptitude.
  • Embraces change and fresh perspectives; learns from past mistakes and adjusts accordingly.
  • Can be trusted to act in a manner that is truthful and values direct, honest communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Experience Level

  • Minimum 1 year experience with a thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety within a hospitality or entertainment environment.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College Degree preferred in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, Emergency Management, or other related field.

Salary/Compensations

  • Commensurate with experience.
