About the Role

The Ophthalmic Technician is a vital member of the eye care team, responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. They perform various clinical and technical duties to ensure the efficient delivery of eye care services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
  • Perform diagnostic testing including Visual fields, OCT, and Corneal Topography.
  • Assist with inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including pharmaceuticals and instruments.
  • Provide phone support for prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician.
  • Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPPA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as an ophthalmic technician.
  • One year of experience in a customer-facing position is preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to stay focused.
