About the Role

The Christmas Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract role responsible for overseeing multiple Christmas Kettle locations within a designated geographical zone. This role organizes, directs, and supervises Kettle Campaign Workers, ensuring adequate staffing and smooth operations to support The Salvation Army's mission of providing hope.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations.
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to a secure location at shift completion.
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Orient and remind staff/volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties.
  • Supervise, support, and assign staff and/or volunteers throughout the Campaign.
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift, ensuring security of donations.
  • Respond to donor questions regarding SA ministries and programs.
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteers.
  • Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign, including scheduling.
  • Participate in the recruitment of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.
  • Provide orientation and performance management for kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.
  • Coordinate the schedule for kettle staff and/or volunteers and respond to emergency absences.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.
  • Coordinate the daily delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites, ensuring donation security.
  • Host at a kettle as required, ensuring coverage for breaks.
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature.
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets.
  • Organize retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations post-campaign.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset.
  • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Experience in office administration.
  • Experience with general office equipment.
  • Strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD).
  • Strong skills and experience using spreadsheet software (EXCEL).
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
  • Personal vehicle required and insurance.
  • Current copy of driver’s abstract satisfactory to The Salvation Army.
  • Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.).
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
  • Ability and willingness to provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army.
