About the Role

Assist in the overall administration of the program, coordinate educational and recreational activities, supervise volunteers, and manage participant registration and database.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephones and assist with calls.
  • Recruit, supervise, and coordinate activities of volunteer workers, interns, and others.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
  • Create, maintain, and follow up with maintenance tickets.
  • Accept lunch deliveries, assist with meal service, and clean up.
  • Collect, record, and maintain daily records of contributions, fundraising activities, and petty cash.
  • Support the Director in counting DFTA Breakfast, Lunch, Fundraising money, and deposits.
  • Coordinate special programs and events.
  • Liaise with community agencies to provide legal, public, mental health, social, and other educational/recreational courses.
  • Participate in internal Older Adult Center subcommittees.
  • Assist with creating and distributing fliers, newsletters, and maintaining bulletin boards.
  • Conduct client registration and create new membership ID cards.
  • Assist with fundraising activities, including receipts and spreadsheets.
  • Assist with documentation and input into the program database.
  • Collect and record daily attendance and congregate meal data, and maintain the database.
  • Maintain a monthly recreational log.
  • Assist with and maintain all required documentation of fundraising receipts and expenses.
  • Create purchase orders for supply needs through the Yardi system.
  • Assist with Information & Referral.
  • Plan and/or lead recreational/educational trips or events.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Director and organization.

Requirements

  • CPR/AED certification preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Food Handler certification preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Some knowledge of and a genuine concern for the physical, mental, and emotional needs of older persons.
  • Computer skills required, with ability to learn database maintenance.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias.
