About the Role
Kraken's North American Regulatory Affairs & Market Development team is seeking a Manager to perform regulatory research, conduct analysis, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations. This role involves managing workstreams, driving internal initiatives, and building understanding of the North American utility market. The position offers growth into representing Kraken externally and managing key relationships.
Responsibilities
- Track relevant utility regulatory proceedings, filings and databases to gather regulatory intelligence and data.
- Gather intelligence to strengthen Kraken’s marketing and value proposition materials, commercial strategy, and client engagements.
- Interpret market & regulatory intelligence related to Kraken’s products and client pipeline.
- Distill intelligence into strategic insights to inform Kraken’s commercial efforts in North America.
- Communicate regulatory findings with credibility to senior audiences.
- Advise and educate internal business stakeholders on North American policy and regulatory topics.
- Create detailed written communications (memos, presentations, comments) for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the North American Regulatory Affairs & Market Development team in building strategic relationships with key external stakeholders.
- Engage with client prospects to align client engagement with the prevailing regulatory landscape.
- Contribute original thought leadership and market influence activities.
- Represent Kraken in industry forums and trade associations.
- Attend conferences.
- Author original media content.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience working for a strategic or economic consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or knowledge-focused firm or institution.
- Experience working at a regulatory commission is welcomed.
- Familiarity with US utility regulation, or a demonstrated ability to get up to speed quickly on complex regulatory subject matter.
- Must be able to gather and apply market/regulatory intelligence to commercial and client strategy.
- Aptitude for detailed analysis of energy and utility regulatory matters.
- The judgment to run a workstream independently and own the analysis end to end.
- Ability to know when to ask for help and how to communicate credibly with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication, with a track record of turning complex regulatory material into clear, credible memos and briefings.
- Comfort juggling multiple workstreams and communicating across teams to manage expectations and deadlines.
- A desire to grow into a stakeholder-facing role over time.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred.
