About the Role

As our Chaplain, you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care, offering compassionate presence, support, and appropriate rituals to patients, families, and staff, especially during times of crisis or grief.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care, ensuring respect for diverse beliefs.
• Works collaboratively with members of the spiritual care department to build a cohesive, spiritually grounded and mutually formative team.
• Covers on-call and holiday shifts as scheduled based on department need.
• Establishes mutually respectful working relationships with staff and physicians from a variety of departments.
• Gathers and evaluates relevant information pertinent to the holistic care of patients and their families.
• Develops and implements spiritual care plans to promote the well-being of patients, including crisis intervention, spiritual care and counseling, and assistance with religious/spiritual rituals.
• Provides spiritual care and counseling for patients and their families in response to referrals and through proactive rounding.
• Documents assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record.

Requirements

• Masters in Divinity, Theology, or related field.
• 2,080 hours experience in clinical chaplaincy, upon hire.
• Minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from a program accredited by ACPE or USCCB/CCA, upon hire.
• Board Certified Chaplain APC, upon hire.
• Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education, upon hire.
• Board Certified Chaplain BCC, upon hire.
• Catholic Chaplain, upon hire.
