About the Role

We are building a digital platform to give amateur football the recognition it deserves, creating a home for the passion millions feel every weekend. This role is crucial for scaling our Teamwear area, which currently depends on a single individual, and enabling it to grow beyond its current scope.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines for automated data collection, designed for quick addition of new sources and markets.
  • Develop algorithms to extract relevant information from websites and images.
  • Ensure data quality through validation, confidence levels, monitoring, and clean handovers.
  • Manage and further develop the data infrastructure for the Teamwear area.
  • Act as the second technical point of contact for the Teamwear area.
  • Develop internal tools to enable the team to collect and correct data independently.
  • Create analytics and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bring 6-8 years of experience in software engineering and data engineering.
  • Speak English fluently; German is a significant advantage.

  • Have experience with automated data pipelines, web scraping, and image processing.
  • Demonstrate expertise in databases and data modeling.
  • Work independently, even without immediate engineering support and with context from business teams.
  • Quickly familiarize yourself with unfamiliar domains and ask pertinent questions.
  • Understand the 80/20 principle, knowing when a fast and good-enough approach is suitable versus when 100% accuracy is required.
  • Care about data quality details and make uncertainties explicit.
  • Exhibit data-driven thinking, analyzing data to identify insights and suggest next steps.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and follow engineering best practices like testing and code reviews.
  • Experience with Python, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Grafana, Metabase, Pulumi, Kubernetes, AWS, LLM APIs is expected.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, or IaC (Pulumi/Terraform) is a bonus.
  • Experience presenting and preparing data for non-technical audiences is a bonus.
