About the Role

Convene is seeking Chefs to join their team to support peak periods from September. This role offers flexible hours on a casual agreement, allowing you to choose your shifts weekly. You will assist the Head Chef in managing, preparing, delivering, and presenting food and beverages to provide the highest level of client service within budget.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in the management, preparation, delivery & presentation of all Food and Beverage.
• Ensure the prompt service of all meals and services at the required times to company standards.
• Prepare and present food for the restaurant under the instruction of the Head Chef.
• Prepare and assist at special functions which may fall outside normal working hours.
• Ensure waiting staff are familiar with the daily menu and conduct de-briefs before each service.
• Monitor portion control.
• Respond promptly to client requests and comments, reporting them to the Head Chef.
• Assist the Head Chef with serving on hot counters to meet catering standards and client requirements.
• Liaise with the events team to determine forthcoming events, numbers, and specific catering requirements.
• Assist the Head Chef in the supervision of agency and junior staff.
• Ensure effective stock rotation within the department.
• Accurately record wastage and take steps to minimize it.
• Adhere to all venue and statutory regulations pertaining to health, safety, and fire.
• Maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
• Wear the correct standard of dress or uniform at all times.
• Adhere to company and statutory regulations for kitchen and ancillary area operations.
• Report any defective and hazardous equipment immediately to the Head Chef.
• Ensure stores and other areas of potential loss are secured at all times.
• Report any loss immediately to the Venue Manager.
• Adhere to all regulations pertaining to COSHH and HACCP.
• Carry out any reasonable management requests, including duty management shifts.
• Build good working relationships with all other areas of the venue team.
• Support the venue team, including assisting with client events outside normal hours and weekends.
• Attend company events as requested by the Venue Manager.

• Candidate must currently reside in the UK.
• Candidate must be able to work in the UK without sponsorship.
