About the Role
The Lead Service Technician oversees and performs advanced service, maintenance, and repair tasks while providing leadership and guidance to the technician team. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, adherence to safety standards, and efficient workflow management. The Lead Technician acts as the primary technical resource and supports training and development of junior technicians.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex equipment issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work.
- Assign tasks and monitor progress of service technicians.
- Mentor and train team members on technical procedures and safety practices.
- Retrain and recertify the techs.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for technical problems.
- Focus on continuous education and reduction of repeat service calls.
- Coordinate daily service schedules and prioritize urgent repairs.
- Monitor open service calls to ensure timely closing.
- Ensure timely completion of service orders and accurate documentation.
- Communicate with Account Managers regarding service status, recommendations, and costs.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in equipment service or maintenance.
- Valid, clean driver’s license.
- Ability to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership experience in a technical environment.
- Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and service software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 to 100 pounds.
- Perform tasks involving bending, standing, manual dexterity, climbing into trucks, and twisting.
