About the Role

As our AI Security Engineer, you’ll be the technical owner of AI security across the company, assessing AI tools, hardening AI systems, and defending against AI-enabled threats. This role is a rare chance to shape a discipline from the ground up, spanning offensive testing, detection, and secure design at the frontier of security and veterinary emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Assess AI tools, models, agents, and integrations before adoption, analyzing data flows, connector and plugin risk, and testing for prompt injection and data leakage.
  • Implement and operate security controls on approved AI platforms: access management, data loss prevention, logging, and usage monitoring.
  • Partner with Engineering to design AI features securely from the start.
  • Build and maintain AI security standards, threat models, and incident response playbooks.
  • Enforce AI risk tiers and maintain an inventory of AI usage across the company.
  • Advise teams on secure, practical ways to adopt AI.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in security engineering—application, cloud, or a related area (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience securing or building AI/LLM-based systems, and familiarity with their failure modes.
  • Understanding of the LLM attack surface—prompt injection, data exfiltration, and agent or tool misuse.
  • Comfort with AI platforms and APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI), SaaS security tooling, and identity providers like Okta.
  • Strong threat-modeling skills and the ability to explain AI risk to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
