About the Role

Assist Ambulance is a New York City EMS agency with a 30-year history of providing BLS and ALS emergency medical and transportation services. We serve diverse communities throughout the five boroughs, partnering with various healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Follow guidelines from the Department of Health - Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems.
  • Adhere to Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of NYC protocols for Basic Life Support.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess an active NY State EMT-B card (NREMT card alone is not accepted).
  • EMTs hired as drivers must be at least 20 years old with 1 year of driving experience in New York City.
  • Must have a valid New York State D Class driver’s license with no more than 3 major moving violations in the past three years.
  • DJ licenses or Driver's permits are not accepted.
  • Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs. and pass a lifting assessment.
  • Must be able to obtain 19A physical clearance and a negative PPD test.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening.
  • Must commit to at least two 8-hour shifts per week on the same days each week.
  • Must be good with people and able to act responsibly under extreme duress.
  • Criminal history will be considered consistent with the New York City Fair Chance Act.
  • Must be able to attend three days of in-person pre-hire assessments and a separate driving assessment.

Salary/Compensations

  • $20.50 - $25.00/hr base pay
  • $.50 cent raise after 90 days for drivers
  • 5% standard annual raises for all EMTs
  • $1/hr bonus after 90 days for full-time hours
