About the Role

As a Tactical Security Guard, your ability to read the environment, anticipate risk, and act accordingly is paramount. Your keen observation skills and strong social aptitude are key assets in this role, which requires physical stamina for patrolling a post-secondary institution.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol critical areas to spot suspicious activity.
  • Check identification and control access to secure areas.
  • React quickly to threats or incidents and document actions taken.
  • Handle alarms and conduct on-site checks.
  • Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents.
  • Proactively patrol the University campus.
  • Respond to and document security occurrences, violations, hazards, and suspicious activities.
  • Participate in on-scene emergency response.
  • Interpret and enforce the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act of Ontario, and University regulations.
  • Work with the community on safety planning and community engagement initiatives.
  • Patrol in uniform by foot, bike, or vehicle.
  • Work positively within a dynamic team atmosphere based on Community Policing principles.
  • Liaise and build relationships with the community and stakeholders to foster engagement.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Hold a valid Ontario security guard license.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Must have WSIB approved Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification.
  • Minimum 1 year previous tactical experience.
  • Be a self-starter with strong initiative.
  • Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
