About the Role
The Finance Manager is responsible for the detailed preparation of the annual corporate budget, budgeting and forecasting, revenue and expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. This role also supports financial audits, risk management, and provides supervision and coaching to direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting for assigned programs and funding sources.
- Partner with program leaders to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, projections, reconciliations, variance reports, and funding submissions.
- Perform and oversee reconciliations of general ledger accounts and other accounts as maybe assigned.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, non-profit accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide on-going training and mentoring for the Program management on budgeting, forecasting, and general financial issues.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, audits, financial reporting, and executive decision-making.
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to see if all entries are in and reconciliations completed for payroll.
- Manage and supervise a team of financial analysts, including performance management and development.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Finance and/or designated.
Requirements
- University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA or equivalent) completed or in progress.
- Minimum 2 years of senior accounting and financial management experience, including team supervision.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders and support informed decision-making.
- Experience in the non-profit sector and/or working with multiple funding sources is considered an asset.
- A satisfactory vulnerable sector check (VSC) is also required.
