About the Role

We are seeking a friendly, motivated, and customer-focused Retail and Museum Assistant to join our team in Battersea Power Station, London. This role involves museum visitor engagement and retail responsibilities, ideal for someone with prior experience in a museum, gallery, or cultural venue.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and professional experience for museum visitors.
  • Engage customers in the museum shop, demonstrate product knowledge, and upsell.
  • Process sales transactions using POS systems and fulfill online orders.
  • Answer visitor inquiries and share information about the museum, events, and promotions.
  • Assist with monthly events hosted by artists, designers, and makers.
  • Maintain high visual merchandising standards.
  • Receive and process deliveries.
  • Maintain an organized stock room and assist with stock management and replenishment.
  • Assist with daily shop operations and ensure retail and museum areas are presented to a high standard.
  • Support colleagues with administrative and operational tasks.
  • Carry out delegated tasks with accuracy.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures and waste disposal.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience.

Requirements

  • Previous retail experience using POS systems (e.g., Lightspeed and Shopify) in a customer-facing environment.
  • Professional, approachable, and confident dealing with museum visitors and customers.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with visitors and colleagues.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Experience in visitor engagement or public-facing roles.
  • A proactive and helpful approach to customer service.
