About the Role
The Sous Chef supports the Senior Sous Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, helping to deliver exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation across restaurant, event, and performance-led services. The role requires the ability to deliver outstanding dining experiences while supporting service that operates alongside live entertainment, performances, and special events.
Responsibilities
- Support and lead daily kitchen operations, working closely with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to ensure smooth, efficient delivery across restaurant, event and show-night services.
- Oversee food production and service excellence, ensuring all dishes are prepared to agreed recipes, quality standards and presentation specifications, even within demanding event schedules.
- Coordinate and develop the culinary team, supervising kitchen staff, managing workflows and schedules, and providing coaching and mentoring to build a high-performing team.
- Drive operational efficiency and commercial performance, supporting menu development, costing, portion control, inventory management, labour planning and food cost control to maximise profitability.
- Champion compliance, adaptability and guest satisfaction, maintaining the highest food safety and hygiene standards while responding effectively to changing event requirements and customer needs.
Requirements
- Proven culinary leadership experience, gained as a Sous Chef or accomplished Senior Chef de Partie within a quality hospitality, events or restaurant environment.
- Strong technical expertise, with excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment and food safety regulations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, remaining calm, organised and adaptable while balancing competing priorities and evolving event schedules.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively, using strong communication, people management and problem-solving skills to deliver exceptional results.
- Commercial awareness combined with excellent organisation, confidently managing time, resources and operational demands to support outstanding service delivery.
