About the Role

Join the GPU Performance Modelling Team to drive advanced exploration of Apple's next-generation GPU architectures and micro-architectures. This highly visible role is at the heart of chip design, impacting high-performance products for millions of customers.

Responsibilities

  • Build C++ performance models of proposed architectural solutions and features.
  • Strengthen Apple's modelling platform by developing tools and reusable components used across the company.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate measured and simulated results to compare architectural design alternatives.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop architectural solutions.
  • Own the creation and maintenance of high-performance C++ models for next-generation architectures.
  • Write and debug simulators that turn architectural ideas into measurable results.
  • Architect new simulator features and improve simulation performance.
  • Translate architectural ideas into working simulations for research, performance analysis, and micro-architecture tuning.
  • Help shape architectural ideas and keep the simulation environment healthy.
  • Find ways to make team members more productive.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Strong software engineering skills in modern C++.
  • Familiarity with Python or another scripting language.
  • General knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Experience working with cutting-edge graphics applications, games, or benchmarks.
  • Comfortable working in uncertain environments and through ambiguity.
  • Strong communicator who can influence decisions and negotiate trade-offs.
