About the Role

This field-based, client-facing position offers exposure to the full lifecycle of heat network metering, from early scoping and technical surveys through to installation oversight, compliance assurance, and ongoing system optimization. You will become a trusted technical specialist, supporting the compliant and efficient delivery of metering systems across communal and district heat networks, directly supporting regulatory frameworks such as the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations and the upcoming HNTAS scheme.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical audits, assessing metering systems, accuracy classes, and compliance with UK billing regulations.
  • Perform RF & communication surveys, including LoRaWAN signal surveys, connectivity validation, and heatmap production.
  • Conduct scoping & design assessments, reviewing HIU layouts, riser structures, and plant rooms to define metering solutions.
  • Support installation teams with project planning, including technical briefs, diagrams, and commissioning checks.
  • Specify equipment such as heat meters, gateways, and controllers that meet compliance and integration standards.
  • Perform quality assurance by validating live systems, monitoring meter health, and supporting remediation actions.
  • Engage with clients, representing Insite during site visits, consultations, and technical discussions.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (BEng/BSc) or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or building services.
  • Ability to produce clear technical reports and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Understanding of heat network regulations, Ofgem requirements, or HNTAS.
  • Familiarity with LoRaWAN, M-Bus, or smart metering systems.
  • Experience with technical audits, CAD outputs, or wireless diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of heat meter types and configurations.
