About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Camunda Architect with strong Java and Spring Boot expertise to design, build, and scale enterprise workflow and business process automation solutions. You will own end-to-end solution architecture for Camunda 7 and/or Camunda 8 (Zeebe) deployments, from BPMN/DMN modelling standards through microservices integration, performance, and production operability. This role blends architectural ownership with hands-on delivery, setting technical direction, guiding engineering teams, and unblocking complex integration and performance problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, govern, and evolve the enterprise-wide Camunda workflow and process orchestration platform.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and enterprise teams to ensure a robust, secure, and efficient automation platform.
  • Own end-to-end architecture for Camunda-based workflow platforms, including engine selection/version strategy, deployment topology, and integration patterns.
  • Define reference architectures for process orchestration, event-driven integration, and microservices communication built on Java and Spring Boot.
  • Design for non-functional requirements (scalability, resilience, security, observability) across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Lead migration and modernization initiatives, including in-flight process instance strategy and cutover planning.
  • Establish and govern modelling standards for BPMN processes, DMN decision tables, and form schemas.
  • Define best practices for long-running processes, external tasks/job workers, retries, compensation, versioning, and message correlation.
  • Review process models and Java/Spring Boot service code for architectural consistency, performance, and adherence to standards.
  • Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices, external task workers, and job workers that integrate Camunda with enterprise systems and third-party APIs.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations supporting orchestration workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
  • Deep expertise in Camunda BPM platform engineering, integration patterns, and scalable architecture practices.
  • Experience with Camunda 7 and/or Camunda 8 (Zeebe) deployments.
  • Experience with BPMN/DMN modelling standards.
  • Experience with microservices integration, performance, and production operability.
  • Experience with REST/event-driven services.
  • Ability to set technical direction and guide engineering teams.
  • Ability to unblock complex integration and performance problems.
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ.
  • Experience with legacy BPM platforms to Camunda migration.
  • Experience with Camunda 7 to Camunda 8 migration.
  • Experience with long-running processes, external tasks/job workers, retries, compensation, versioning, and message correlation.
  • Experience building and maintaining Java/Spring Boot microservices, external task workers, and job workers.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations.
