About the Role
Oversee European financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, treasury, revenue control, and reporting/planning. Responsible for short and long-term planning, operational processes, and controls in London and European offices. Manage staffing, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Serve as a liaison to the head office finance team and senior Business Services directors.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day finance operations and staff for London, Brussels, and Frankfurt offices.
- Oversee European general ledger/balance sheet accounts and liaise with head office for reconciliations.
- Coordinate European revenue and expense/capital planning and forecasting.
- Provide monthly reporting of European financial results and reconcile variances.
- Oversee local treasury functions and cash flow management.
- Prepare annual partnership tax returns.
- Oversee preparation of locally prepared VAT returns.
- Act as COFA, responsible for client money procedures, controls, and the annual SAR audit.
- Manage working capital and oversee European billing and revenue control.
- Provide input on pricing and matter planning decisions.
- Ensure compliance with local and firmwide procedures, internal controls, and policies.
- Implement best practices, ensuring proper documentation and training.
- Oversee the implementation and rollout of financial software and applications in European offices.
- Liaise with outside tax accountants and Firmwide Director of Taxation for timely financial information.
- Provide reporting for European Senior Management and Business Services.
- Support European Senior Management during strategic review and planning.
- Support special projects or initiatives directed by firm management and partners.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in all aspects of accounting and financial functions, including budgeting, financial statement preparation, general accounting, accounts payable, billing, collections, and financial analysis.
- Prior experience in a management role within a law firm or professional services firm.
- Extensive experience with Elite 3E or similar ERP system and related solutions.
