About the Role
We are launching a new team to build a payments product, and we are hiring two Payment Product Engineers to form its engineering core. This role involves greenfield development on the new payments product and maintaining/extending existing payment integrations. You will help evolve and ship the system that allows event organizers to get paid through Ticket Tailor, taking ownership of its development. You should be motivated by customer impact, product-minded, curious, and a strong problem solver, caring about both the 'why' and the 'how' of features. You will work in a small team with two engineers and a Product Manager, with support from Architects and the Head of Product Design, collaborating through pairing, reviews, and unblocking.
Responsibilities
- Build our new payments product whilst extending the payment integrations we already run.
- Stay driven by the impact delivered to event organisers, caring deeply about their experience and iterating based on customer signals.
- Maintain a high bar for quality, ensuring built work aligns with architectural vision and product principles.
- Design clean services with strong separation of concerns.
- Work closely and generously within the team: pairing, unblocking, reviewing, and giving/receiving feedback.
- Use AI tools creatively and fluently to amplify impact.
- Bring judgement on payment-system design that others can lean on.
Requirements
- A deep understanding of payment systems, evidenced by work such as building high-scale, secure payment integrations.
- Awareness of PCI DSS and its requirements.
- Experience working in a product team alongside Product Managers.
- A genuine drive to work in an AI-native way, being curious and willing to adapt work methods as AI tools evolve.
- Fluency in amplifying personal impact through AI and agentic engineering tools.
- Experience integrating payment systems into a high-scale SaaS product with Stripe or similar third-party tools.
- Experience judging impact through customer feedback signals, knowing what to measure, what 'working' looks like, and how to adjust.
- Strong system design skills - ability to design clean, maintainable, extendable services from first principles.
- PHP experience is useful, but strong engineers from any modern language ready to learn are welcome.
