About the Role

As a Field Application Scientist (FAS) responsible for bioproduction chromatography resin products, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for the sales team and customers, providing technical proposals, troubleshooting, and application support. This role requires high technical expertise, autonomous project management, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for chromatography resin products, leading technical communication with sales and customers.
  • Provide technical proposals for experimental support, process optimization, and scale-up/scale-down at customer sites.
  • Understand customer processes and challenges to propose optimal resin configurations and process conditions.
  • Lead the resolution of troubleshooting cases in collaboration with quality, manufacturing, development, and global FAS teams.
  • Collaborate with sales to develop and execute technical strategies based on customer needs and project status.
  • Drive new opportunity discovery and in-depth problem analysis through technical meetings and visits.
  • Promote the value of our chromatography resin solutions through presentations and seminars.
  • Understand competitive technologies and present differentiation messages.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments such as marketing, R&D, and manufacturing sites to advance projects.
  • Update knowledge and share internally to become a "go-to person" in the specialized field.
  • Provide OJT and technical training to new team members.
  • Document technical materials and best practices for team sharing.
  • Accurately manage activities and project records using digital platforms (CRM).
  • Clarify project schedules, scopes, and deliverables, and gain consensus with stakeholders.
  • Collect VOC and provide feedback to product management and global teams.
  • Provide technical support in compliance with safety, health, and compliance regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree or higher in science (Chemistry, Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Life Sciences, etc.).
  • 2-5+ years of experience in downstream development, technology transfer, or manufacturing support in pharmaceuticals, biotech, or CDMOs, or experience as a Purification-related FAS.
  • Deep expertise and practical experience in chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, etc.).
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with customers and engage stakeholders to drive projects.
  • Native level Japanese proficiency.
  • English proficiency sufficient for reading technical documents and participating in global meetings.
