About the Role
We are seeking a Risk & Controls Manager to join the EMEA Risk & Controls team. This role involves supporting the implementation and monitoring of a local control framework aligned with Group requirements and compliance activities, including audit coordination, issue discussion, and remediation.
Responsibilities
- Promote and embed a culture of ethics and integrity through training and advising on topics such as anti-bribery, corruption, internal controls, and internal policy requirements.
- Serve as a risk & controls subject matter expert and thought leader within the region.
- Partner with the R&C team and local markets, collaborating effectively with colleagues across WPP Media, WPP, and other Networks.
- Engage with multiple senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Support the design and implementation of financial, operational, and compliance controls in line with the WPP Internal Control framework, meeting documentation and evidence standards.
- Design and operate ongoing quality reviews/control monitoring programs as a second line of defense.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, including technology use, adapting to evolving challenges.
- Reinforce WPP & WPP Media policies and control requirements, communicating updates clearly.
- Act as a partner and source of support for areas of change requiring controls implementation.
- Develop pragmatic solutions to enhance the control environment and streamline processes.
- Coordinate audit and compliance activities, liaising with internal and external audit teams and monitoring remediation.
- Coordinate/oversee internal control and risk management processes, including risk maps, self-certifications, and review of related party declarations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Work experience in industry or consulting in risk and controls, ethics and compliance, business process improvement, risk management, or internal/external audit.
- Familiarity with IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and PCAOB requirements.
- Ability to work independently, balance multiple demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally across geographies, functions, and diverse employees.
- Experience in assessing business risk and evaluating internal control systems.
- Experience in driving improvement and building business relationships.
- Competency in Excel.
- Certified Accountant, ACA/CA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
- Experience in media and advertising with proven knowledge of core business processes.
- Additional language skills (Spanish, French, German) are desirable.
- Right to work in the UK.
