About the Role

AWS is launching the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and seeking support engineers with cloud operations experience to join the AWS Managed Operations team. This role is crucial for delivering high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the service level of the ESC.
  • Collaborate closely with global AWS teams.
  • Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
  • Resolve less time-sensitive issues for software systems.
  • Improve team services, procedures, documentation, and tools.
  • Use judgment to escalate ambiguous or undefined standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours.

Requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU.
  • Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience in systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, and operating systems.
  • Must be a national of an EU member state.

Skills

  • Experience operating service in AWS or other cloud systems or services.
  • Infrastructure as Code (such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar).
  • Operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications.
  • Performance tuning software applications.
  • Optimizing fleet utilization.
  • Monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, or similar).
  • Able to read scripts or code with comments to understand how something should be operating.
  • Able to execute standard operating procedures and follow operational best practices.
