About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Act as an escalation point for L1 and L2 SOC Analysts and a technical point of contact for clients during Incident Responses, both within and outside business hours.
  • Use defensive measures and telemetry to guide junior SOC members in identifying, analyzing, and reporting events to protect client networks.
  • Shape process and improve delivery outcomes for a select group of high-profile clients by leading a capability area.
  • Drive the agenda and influence day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities.
  • Distinguish incidents and events from benign activities.
  • Analyze security events from multiple sources including SIEM, network intrusion systems, and Host-based Intrusion Prevention tools.
  • Analyze identified malicious activity to determine exploited weaknesses, exploitation methods, and system/information effects.
  • Determine tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for intrusion sets.
  • Perform event correlation using enterprise-gathered information to gain situational awareness and assess attack effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other L3s to complete Threat Hunting, Threat Intel, Detections, and Tuning tasks.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise to L1 and L2 Analysts, including night shift Analysts, to enhance skills.
  • Create and tune detections in response to new or observed threats within customer environments.
  • Review, document, and improve processes to enhance overall environment security.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen.
  • Must be able to attain and maintain an Australian Federal Government security clearance at the NV1 level or higher.
