About the Role
The Corporate FP&A team partners with senior leaders to translate financial plans, forecasts, and performance insights into clear decisions and funded strategic options. The team is enhancing its business partnering, strategic planning, modelling, and operational excellence capabilities to serve as a forward-looking advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
- Partner with ExCo, the CFO, and function leaders across Corporate Functions, Reinsurance, and ACS, constructively challenging commercial decisions and providing a clear finance perspective.
- Frame the financial value drivers behind strategic choices and translate plans into funded options, trade-offs, and recommended actions.
- Transform variance analysis, budgets, and forecasts into decision-ready commentary that explains the implications of financial movements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in leadership meetings, assisting leaders in making proactive financial choices.
- Collaborate with department leaders to foster expense accountability, improve financial outcomes, and analyze key expense drivers.
- Own and enhance the Anaplan Workforce model, including scenario planning, long-term forecasting, and expense forecast updates.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the supported portfolio, ensuring clear assumptions linked to commercial outcomes.
- Develop rapid workforce, expense, and strategic scenarios for senior leaders.
- Utilize AI-enabled workflow opportunities to improve forecast quality, reduce manual effort, and enhance the team's focus on interpretation and advice.
- Lead the centralization, streamlining, and automation of processes to resolve month-end and quarter-end close bottlenecks affecting planning and management insight.
- Establish data control standards for accurate reporting, enforce policy compliance and internal controls, and monitor risk within the planning process.
- Hold functions accountable for spend through clear governance, transparent assumptions, and consistent reporting standards.
- Identify process improvements and lead change initiatives to shift the team's focus from reporting production to higher-value analysis and advice.
- Develop and maintain expense dashboards, management reports, and KPI reporting, creating automated reporting solutions to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
- Supervise and develop a small team, including setting objectives, managing performance, and providing day-to-day coaching.
- Act as a senior technical resource across finance, evaluating business needs and developing pragmatic solutions.
- Coach the wider FP&A team in commercial framing, Anaplan modelling, AI-enabled working methods, and concise executive communication.
- Work with significant autonomy, with process changes reviewed and approved by the Head of Corporate FP&A.
- Undertake additional duties, responsibilities, and activities as appropriate to the nature of the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- Preference for a qualified accountant or equivalent professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or CFA).
- 7+ years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or a closely related finance business partnering role.
- Proven experience partnering with senior leaders and ExCo-level stakeholders in a complex, multi-entity group.
- Strong strategic and commercial judgment, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions without relying on excessive detail.
- Advanced modelling and scenario-forecasting skills, including confidence in building and improving planning models.
- Practical experience with Anaplan, or comparable enterprise planning solutions.
- Clear interest in using AI to improve workflow quality and efficiency.
- Advanced literacy across PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, and enterprise finance / HR systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP, Hyperion).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, senior-leader-ready commentary and recommendations.
- A track record of improving processes, controls, data quality, and operating cadence in a finance environment, with a focus on automation.
- Office-based professional role with hybrid working expectations.
- Occasional business travel may be required.
- Flexibility required during key planning, forecast, quarter-end, and senior management cycle deadlines.
