About the Role

Outback Spirit Tours is seeking an experienced Lodge Mechanic for a live-in opportunity at Arnhem Land Barramundi Lodge. This role is crucial for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the lodge's vehicles, vessels, machinery, and essential infrastructure, ensuring guests have a seamless experience.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and coordinate repairs and maintenance with lodge management to ensure operational readiness of vehicles, vessels, and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, fault finding, and breakdown repairs on lodge vehicles, vessels, machinery, and property maintenance equipment.
• Maintain and service prime power generators and other essential lodge infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and auto-electrical faults.
• Respond efficiently to unexpected breakdowns and operational maintenance requirements in a remote environment.
• Utilize practical and cost-effective maintenance solutions while upholding high standards of workmanship.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting.
• Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.
• Support the broader lodge team to ensure smooth day-to-day property operations.

Requirements

• Relevant mechanical trade qualification with experience across petrol and diesel engines.
• Experience maintaining and repairing marine vessels and outboard motors (highly regarded).
• Experience with generators and other remote-site equipment (highly regarded).
• Strong mechanical and auto-electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence, with MR or HR licence preferred.
• Forklift Licence.
• Previous experience working in remote locations or similarly self-sufficient environments.
• Strong communication and literacy skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Flexible, hands-on approach and willingness to assist across broader lodge operations.
• Must be aware that drug and alcohol testing is conducted, and that some prescription medications may cause a non-negative test result.
• Must pass a National Criminal History Check.
