About the Role
Seeking an employee with experience in high-volume food preparation within a major institution serving 200-800 meals per service.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time.
- Reads food orders or receives verbal instructions and prepares food accordingly.
- Replenishes the serving line.
- Performs fast food and grill cooking duties.
- Provides high-quality customer service.
- Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving food.
- Prepares foods using kitchen equipment, including washing, peeling, cutting, and trimming ingredients.
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and plans accordingly.
- May select recipes, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, and prepare meals for special diets.
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment, adhering to all rules and procedures.
- Sets steam tables and serves food.
- Maintains a clean work area and practices 'Clean As You Go'.
- Performs progressive cooking.
- Adheres to BCI rules and regulations.
- Complies with all HACCP standards.
- Applies basic skills and develops skills appropriate for the position.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Willing to participate in pre-employment screening, including drug screen and background investigation.
- May lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stands and moves within the kitchen area for 6 to 8 hours (excluding breaks).
- Involves some bending and squatting.
