About the Role
This role is pivotal in supporting rapid business expansion by establishing robust financial operational structures and strengthening governance across international subsidiaries. The successful candidate will manage complex accounting operations, oversee group-wide financial workflows, and lead strategic projects to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead the annual, quarterly, and monthly closing processes for domestic entities.
- Oversee general accounting, including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable management, and the preparation of financial statements and consolidation packages.
- Manage fixed assets, specifically focusing on system development costs, R&D expenditures, and software capitalization.
- Ensure compliance with statutory audits, J-SOX requirements, and internal audit standards.
- Prepare mandatory documentation in accordance with the Companies Act of Japan.
- Provide oversight and support to international subsidiaries (U.S., Europe, Singapore, and India), ensuring alignment with group accounting policies.
- Design, implement, and optimize accounting processes and systems.
- Formulate group-wide accounting policies and promote their adoption to enhance financial governance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of professional accounting experience, with a proven track record in operational improvement.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and Japan GAAP.
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
- Business-level proficiency in English (capable of coordinating with global teams via video conference and email).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong logical thinking, ability to act independently, initiative-taking approach to new challenges, and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing overseas subsidiaries or working in a global corporate environment.
- Professional background in the IT/System Integration or Telecommunications sectors.
- Experience in business consulting or professional services.
- Proficiency in implementing or utilizing major ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Knowledge of international accounting standards and taxation frameworks (Japan, Singapore, USA, Germany, or India).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent degree in Finance/Accounting.
- TOEIC score of 800 or higher (or proof of equivalent English proficiency via certification or a university degree-or higher-from an English-speaking country).
