About the Role

Jericho Project is seeking a full-time Employment Specialist to provide workforce development services to adult participants, helping them achieve their employment, education, and training goals. This role involves close collaboration with the Senior Employment Specialist and Program Director to coordinate referral services.

Responsibilities

• Implement job development strategies to place 60 adult participants in jobs annually.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key employers matching job seeker interests.
• Identify employment opportunities aligned with participant skills and education.
• Customize job development strategies for individual job seekers.
• Develop a diverse job bank with various competency levels.
• Ensure business development practices meet the needs of scatter site families and adults with mental health/substance use disabilities.
• Research and inform the team about labor market trends, emerging industries, and skill requirements.
• Screen and match candidates to positions, facilitating interviews.
• Conduct follow-up with employers and candidates post-referral.
• Maintain consistent communication with job seekers throughout their job search.
• Identify and post job fair events regularly.
• Collaborate with career counselors to facilitate job searches and provide employer feedback.
• Work with other Employment Specialists to maximize resources and opportunities.
• Complete all required administrative work for recording, documenting, and reporting activities.
• Conduct occasional employment workshops for participants.
• Access community resources to aid participants in job search, retention, and re-placement.
• Actively participate in monthly team and program-specific meetings.
• Work in multiple supportive housing facilities to ensure service delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years of experience as a job developer.
• Existing transferable job bank of appropriate employers.
• Ability to make 60+ job placements per year.
• Experience working with individuals in mental health/substance abuse recovery and those experiencing homelessness is highly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in helping low-income job seekers find and keep jobs.
• High level of computer literacy.
• Good writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work and produce desired performance outcomes in a team environment.
• Ability to travel within all 5 boroughs of NYC.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel to various sites.
• Ability to speak, hear, see, and write.
• Ability to use a computer and related software programs.
• Local and/or national travel required.
• May require longer weekday/weekend commitments.
