About the Role
The Client Engagement Specialist (CES) will provide services with an awareness of, sensitivity to, and respect for diversity. The CES will engage with Rapid Rehousing Young Adult and Veteran clients, offering support and guidance to secure stable housing and supportive services. Responsibilities include client outreach, pre-screening, identifying local resources, organizing events, and completing financial assistance requests.
Responsibilities
- Work with clinical and workforce development staff to identify and support young adults' needs.
- Accompany clients to Housing Court, Section-8 briefings, HRA, Social Security, housing inspections, and apartment searches.
- Assist young adults in gaining education/career skills and meeting service plan goals.
- Maintain a caseload of 50+ clients requiring one-time or ongoing service assistance.
- Plan, organize, and participate in small groups and events to support young adults, including at least one group workshop monthly.
- Invite and facilitate monthly RRH Meet and Greet Orientations for new participants.
- Collaborate with Program Director, Assistant Director, Case Managers, and Career Counselor for participant development, motivation, and mentorship.
- Conduct outreach to community organizations, schools, housing courts, food pantries, VA, and drop-in centers to identify resources for young adults and veterans.
- Conduct outreach to community and non-profit organizations to identify young adults in need of the RRH program.
- Develop and maintain community linkages for referrals and maintain a resource binder.
- Maintain effective working relationships and communication with external community partners and program staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Actively assist and participate in all program activities and special events.
- Conduct individual or group life-skills sessions to enhance participant self-sufficiency and housing maintenance.
- Complete Excel purchase orders and Financial Assistance Requests for life skills materials.
- Facilitate roommate match-up agreements and mediation sessions upon request.
- Assist with completing suicide and safety assessments for young adults experiencing mental health issues, intimate partner violence, or other trauma.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and input case notes into Awards within 72 hours.
- Assist with the practice and implementation of affirming LGBTQIA+ practices in the workplace.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by Program Director/Assistant Directors.
Requirements
- High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Peer/Recovery Coach, or CASAC credentials highly preferred.
- Must have personally experienced homelessness/housing crisis between ages 18-24 or have worked with homeless youth and young adults.
- Experience working in homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, and/or trauma settings preferred.
- Understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community and issues specific to the young adult population.
- Self-starter with skills and energy to work with high-need Young Adults.
- Strong organizational, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Strong engagement and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel to various sites.
- Ability to speak, hear, see, and write.
- Ability to use a computer and related software programs.
- Local and/or national travel required.
- May require some longer weekday/weekend commitments.
