About the Role

Whatnot is seeking a Performance Creative Lead to join the EU marketing team. This role will build and manage the creative engine for paid growth across Europe, owning the strategy, team, operations, and output for high-performing ads at scale. The position involves working across various creative pipelines, including creator-led ads, in-house production, and external partners, with a focus on scaling output intentionally through better systems, sharper strategy, and improved testing.

Responsibilities

  • Own the EU performance creative engine across paid social, accountable for monthly creative volume and quality.
  • Balance performance and brand to drive results while maintaining Whatnot's recognizability and trustworthiness.
  • Build the strategy and operating system to scale creative output, reduce guesswork, improve quality, and increase impact.
  • Manage and develop a growing team as a player-coach, setting direction and maintaining high standards while staying hands-on.
  • Partner closely with Performance Marketing to build the creative testing roadmap, analyze performance, and translate learnings into better creative.
  • Lead creative output across multiple pipelines: creator-led ads, in-house production, edited community content, agencies, and creator marketplace platforms.
  • Build scalable systems for briefing, production workflows, asset tracking, localization, creator workflows, and feedback loops.
  • Partner with the US Performance Creative team to share top-performing creative and adopt/improve global marketing tools and playbooks.
  • Utilize data to guide creative decisions, moving from one-off wins to repeatable creative systems.
  • Stay hands-on when needed, including sourcing creators, shaping briefs, reviewing edits, producing assets, and unblocking the team.
  • Drive AI adoption across the team to enhance speed, improve processes, and optimize workflows.
  • Use the Whatnot app as a buyer and seller to develop a deep understanding of the product.

Requirements

  • Experience building or managing a high-volume performance creative program across multiple workstreams, channels, and markets.
  • People management experience, including hiring, developing talent, setting direction, and raising the bar for creative output.
  • Experience sourcing, vetting, and managing external partners (agencies, freelancers, creator marketplace platforms).
  • Strong paid performance fluency, including reading creative performance data and brainstorming with marketers.
  • Strong operating ability to build systems for briefing, production, asset tracking, localization, creator workflows, and feedback loops.
  • Strong creative taste across various formats (short-form video, creator-led ads, UGC, edited assets, native paid social).
  • AI-forward leadership, driving AI adoption to reduce manual work and improve workflows.
  • A sharp eye for detail in briefs, creator concepts, edits, captions, and final assets.
  • Comfort working across Europe, with a need for localization by market, language, and customer behavior.
  • Hands-on video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, or similar) is a bonus.
  • Fluency in another European language, especially French, German, or Dutch, is a bonus.
  • Experience in a fast-growing startup, DTC brand, or marketplace business is a bonus.
  • Experience creating assets across multiple communities, product types, or categories is a bonus.
  • Interest or experience in collectibles or fashion culture is a bonus.
